These days every single person is known with the word-computer. We can find computers at everywhere around us. In fact modern world will be incomplete without computers and their applications. It’s almost impossible to even imagine the modern facilities without the use of computers. For many individuals computer means PC, on which they can see movies, play games, prepare office sheets and manage daily planners. But this is just a page of the book of computers. Computer means much more than a PC. A computer can simply be defined as a machine which takes instructions and perform computations and operations accordingly. These commanded instructions are known as programs and computers execute these programs to do an operation. At a time, a set of instructions can be given to a computer to perform several operations, simultaneously. This feature is a point of distinction for the computers.
आज कल हर एक व्यक्ति कंप्यूटर शब्द से जाना जाता है। हम अपने आस-पास हर जगह कंप्यूटर पा सकते हैं। वास्तव में आधुनिक दुनिया कंप्यूटर और उनके अनुप्रयोगों के बिना अधूरी होगी। कंप्यूटर के उपयोग के बिना आधुनिक सुविधाओं की कल्पना करना भी लगभग असंभव है। कई लोगों के लिए कंप्यूटर का मतलब पीसी है, जिस पर वे फिल्में देख सकते हैं, गेम खेल सकते हैं, ऑफिस शीट तैयार कर सकते हैं और दैनिक योजनाकारों का प्रबंधन कर सकते हैं। लेकिन यह कंप्यूटर की किताब का सिर्फ एक पन्ना है। कंप्यूटर का मतलब पीसी से कहीं ज्यादा है। कंप्यूटर को केवल एक मशीन के रूप में परिभाषित किया जा सकता है जो निर्देश लेता है और तदनुसार गणना और संचालन करता है। इन निर्देशित निर्देशों को प्रोग्राम के रूप में जाना जाता है और कंप्यूटर इन प्रोग्रामों को एक ऑपरेशन करने के लिए निष्पादित करते हैं। एक समय में, कंप्यूटर को एक साथ कई ऑपरेशन करने के लिए निर्देशों का एक सेट दिया जा सकता है। यह सुविधा कंप्यूटर के लिए एक विशिष्ट बिंदु है।

Just like computers, calculators also take an instruction as an input and provide output results accordingly. But a calculator can give response to a recent and immediate input only. But computers can be installed with a set of instructions, so a computer can work as a continuous worker. Computers provide outputs for respective inputs in a redecided manner, so there is no need to enter one input at a time, a computer can process various inputs simultaneously. Because of this exclusive feature, computers play a crucial role as an application device in application based services like banking, transportation, security, government affairs etc.

Many types of computers are available these days. Depending on their usage and service application they can be classified in various categories. Supercomputers are capable of doing trillions of calculations in fraction of seconds, so they are used as controlling units of banking transactions; to keep records of railway and air transportations; to conduct decent flow of telecommunication and many more complex operations can be controlled, organized and conducted by using supercomputers. On the other hand computers are also used in conducting simple operations like billing, ticket transactions, record maintenance, security analysis etc. And even computers (PC) are also used to do home based general activities like office sheet maintenance, day planner, entertainment etc. So computers are involved in every sector of life with different forms and different applications. आजकल कई तरह के कंप्यूटर उपलब्ध हैं। उनके उपयोग और सेवा आवेदन के आधार पर उन्हें विभिन्न श्रेणियों में वर्गीकृत किया जा सकता है। सुपरकंप्यूटर सेकंड के अंश में खरबों गणना करने में सक्षम हैं, इसलिए उनका उपयोग बैंकिंग लेनदेन की नियंत्रण इकाइयों के रूप में किया जाता है; रेलवे और हवाई परिवहन का रिकॉर्ड रखने के लिए; दूरसंचार के अच्छे प्रवाह का संचालन करने के लिए और कई और जटिल संचालन को सुपर कंप्यूटर का उपयोग करके नियंत्रित, व्यवस्थित और संचालित किया जा सकता है। दूसरी ओर कंप्यूटर का उपयोग बिलिंग, टिकट लेनदेन, रिकॉर्ड रखरखाव, सुरक्षा विश्लेषण आदि जैसे सरल कार्यों के संचालन में भी किया जाता है और यहां तक कि कंप्यूटर (पीसी) का उपयोग घर आधारित सामान्य गतिविधियों जैसे कार्यालय शीट रखरखाव, दिन योजनाकार, मनोरंजन आदि के लिए भी किया जाता है। इसलिए कंप्यूटर जीवन के हर क्षेत्र में विभिन्न रूपों और विभिन्न अनुप्रयोगों के साथ शामिल हैं। आधुनिक शब्दों में हमारे आस-पास की हर चीज जैसे जीपीएस, एटीएम मशीन, सेल फोन, पेट्रोल पंप, पोर्टेबल प्ले स्टेशन और अन्य सभी आधुनिक उपकरण अपने विशेष संचालन के लिए कंप्यूटर कंट्रोलिंग यूनिट का उपयोग करते हैं।
